A hybrid publication developed during my MA in Book Design at the University of Reading. Across both print and digital formats, the project investigates how social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook under Meta, control visibility and manipulate the narrative. It reveals how their content moderation policies are used to silence marginalised voices particularly around pro-Palestinian posts.

Structured around seven of Meta’s Community Standards, the book dissects the policies most often used to justify removing posts or banning accounts. The narrator’s voice runs through the pages, layered over content, exposing the gaps between Meta’s promises and its practices. Each chapter tackles different guidelines, showing how vague wording and biased enforcement systematically target marginalised voices.

By making censorship visible—not just talked about—the book challenges readers to look beyond social media’s polished surface. It exposes a digital landscape where accountability is weak, and transparency gets lost in complicated fine print.

It’s a call to question who decides what we see, why some truths get erased, and how we can demand a fairer digital world.
